After spending a year travelling around South America, I was ready for a new and exciting challenge. With this in mind, it didn't take me long to realise that the Nestlé Graduate Finance Scheme was for me.
I'm currently on my first placement in York, working in Factory Finance. I was given significant responsibilities from the onset and, as a result, it's been a steep learning curve. I've been particularly surprised by the diversity of roles and people that I've been exposed to. One day I could be having a meeting with the CEO and the next I might be interacting with people on the factory floor.
Developing people is integral to the Nestlé culture. They have given me all the support and flexibility necessary to advance through my chartered accountancy qualification. The concept of a healthy work/life balance is something that thrives here. There is a strong graduate social network and a variety of inter-company sports teams that you can get involved in.
Following my role in the factory, I will be put on three more placements over the next two years which will be great for accelerating my progression and creating solid foundations for a successful career.
Sam graduated from the University of Nottingham with a BA in Geography.
