HR Nestlé UK
More HR profiles
I joined Nestlé in 2007 after studying Management with CIPD at the University of Leeds. Before joining I completed a HR placement year with at a major retailer and worked as a Recruitment Advisor for another major retailer. I always knew that I wanted my career to be in HR as it can add real value to the business, from employee development to supporting strategic change.
The placements I've had so far have been fantastic. It is more than just a graduate training scheme, as on each placement you're placed into a real job with key responsibilities. When I started with Nestlé I worked in the Information and Administration Centre as a HR Advisor for three months. At the time we were outsourcing our payroll department, and I had an excellent opportunity to support this transition by going over to Poland to help train our third-party provider.
I then transferred to our factory in Halifax where I worked as a Junior Human Resource Business Partner for 10 months. Here I was providing onsite operational HR support - liaising with line managers, unions and employees as well as being heavily involved in a project supporting the implementation of new Terms and Conditions in the Factory.
I now work in our Learning and Development function where I manage our internal leadership programme. This means being responsible for the content, coordination, evaluation and occasional facilitation of some of the modules. This is very different to my previous roles, and is a key benefit of the graduate scheme in that it provides you with exposure to all areas of HR.
Nestlé is a great place to work as the people are very supportive of graduate development. The training and development you receive as a HR graduate is exceptional, including courses in facilitation, consulting and change. Also being in HR at Nestle is a really interesting area to work within as we operate with the Ulrich 3 box model. In the future I would like to be an HR Business Partner for either a factory or a corporate area of the business. And with Nestlé being international, there is so much opportunity to go even further.
