More about industrial Placements

After scouring my university job website, finding placements with obscure companies, the Nestlé ad jumped out at me and I instantly applied. The thrill of being able to work for a company with such a global presence and with some of the best-known products in the world was extremely exciting.

Within my role as a HR advisor, I have enjoyed an enormous variety of tasks: from maintaining organisational structure to providing reports for the different areas of the business on issues such as absence, turnover and headcount. I've also worked on individual ad hoc projects and been given full scope to be as creative as possible.

My main role as Lead 2 Win co-ordinator involves providing administrative support for the Management Training Programme at Nestlé. From booking venues and guest speakers to providing cost reports for Business Partners - no two days in my job are ever the same.

I've enjoyed the autonomy and the freedom that I've had to work on projects and develop my ideas into new tools. There's also the feeling of satisfaction that comes from seeing the impact and improvement to processes as they happen.

The Nestlé environment is a joy to work in, because the focus is on striving to be better and not settling for being just 'OK'. I've been given every opportunity to develop myself, through training courses, factory tours and quarterly presentations from the Senior Leadership Team. It makes you feel as though you're valued and that you can make a difference to the company's continuing success.

Lauren studied for a BSc Management and Strategy at Aston University.
