Quality Assurance, Nestlé UK
More Quality Assurance profiles
When I started my studies I didn't really have a particular career in mind, however I did have aspirations to pursue a career in science, in pharmaceuticals or food. I specifically selected the Quality Assurance programme at Nestlé as an opportunity to work for a large, global food and beverage company. I felt it would offer me variety and the opportunity to have a job with real responsibilities.
I started working in a Head Office position based in York. Very quickly I felt part of something much bigger. I was made to feel very welcome from the outset and learned incredibly fast as a result of getting involved in various quality projects across different production sites in the UK.
After six months at Head Office I was offered a role at the Newcastle site in Fawdon managing compliance to quality by working closely with the key production departments. This gave me great opportunity to fully utilise my analytical and problem-solving ability, while allowing me to develop my people management and leadership skills.
Latterly, I have joined the Focused Improvement department in Fawdon. My current role involves deploying improvement methodologies and tools across the factory to identify, analyse and eliminate losses. This is primarily achieved through training and coaching the teams of people that are using these problem solving techniques.
I have great aspirations for my career but know to reach my goals I need to develop the necessary skills and behaviours. Along the way, there are many opportunities available in Nestlé to help me achieve this - from working in Switzerland at the Nestlé Headquarters in a project team, to managing a factory Quality Team, to new product development, the list goes on and on.
Kim graduated from The University of Strathclyde with a Masters degree in Biomolecular & Medicinal Chemistry.
