More industrial Placement profiles
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year working at Nestlé. It was everything I thought it would be and more. I finished the year with a new-found confidence a wealth of knowledge, a portfolio of invaluable experience which in my opinion cannot be taught in any lecture theatre, and a clear understanding of what working in a company such as Nestlé entails.
My industrial placement year was divided into two parts; the first part was spent in Croydon supporting the graduate recruitment team during their 2011 Campaign. The second part was spent in York working in different teams within the HR Operations Team.
I was constantly learning and was given countless opportunities to develop myself through training courses and by watching members from the senior leadership team present to the department. I found it fascinating to work alongside such driven, ambitious professionals. I learnt how to present myself in different situations and I was given a number of opportunities to present.
I was given the freedom to be creative in a supportive environment working in an encouraging team. No two days were the same; from planning events to producing post-campaign analysis to presenting to the HR Director himself. I was constantly being challenged under the guidance of my line manager and thrived on the fast pace and versatility of the role.
Alongside this I was able to sink my teeth into a number juicy ad hoc projects which enabled me to be creative, gave me exposure to a variety of employees within the Company and enabled me to explore the full scope of what the HR department had to offer at Nestlé.
The lessons I learnt during my time at Nestlé are lessons that will stay with me for life. I found it fascinating to watch the 2011 graduate campaign unfold and felt very proud to have contributed to improving the process. I also felt very fortunate to be part of such a successful, renowned organisation. Whilst the year was extremely challenging, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and, though sad to have left, I cant wait to start a career equipped with the skills I learnt along the way.
