More about Supply Chain Progammes

When looking for jobs, I quickly realised that I wanted to work for a well-known company where I could develop a career with diverse opportunities. After doing my research I realised that there are only a few companies that offer great opportunities within the Supply Chain arena. Nestlé offer a great package and a secure job in a company which has shown growth despite the unpredictable economy.

I'm on my first placement, currently working as a Supply Planner for Nestlé Professional, a role in which I deal with multiple European markets on a daily basis. If you like responsibility this is the company for you, as within weeks I was ensuring that the products were being produced to the UK's demand. I have been involved in projects throughout my first placement, developing my own work and presenting to fellow colleagues including directors.

I have learnt that people are the key to success – and that it's paramount to build strong relationships with fellow employees. Because you're developing relationships, you need to be a 'people person' with a persuasive approach. You also need the ability to cope with a varying job, and the courage to speak your mind and challenge where you think improvements could be made. Your suggestions will be taken seriously.

There are numerous highs I could pick from my experiences so far, but contributing to a European conference was outstanding. It's great to have the responsibility of controlling imports of culinary products into the UK. My first placement has blown any previous expectations out of the water; it's offered me benefits beyond my wildest dreams and I am eagerly looking forward to my next adventure.

Chris graduated from Cardiff with a BSc(Hons) in International Business Management.
