Manufacturing and Focused Improvement is all about improving the performance and productivity of our factories whilst developing the capability of our workforce to identify and eliminate all forms of waste from our business. This is particularly critical as we continue our journey towards a LEAN Enterprise. This is the biggest change in the way we work that Nestlé has ever seen. It's worldwide. It's exciting. And you could play a key role in it by applying for our Manufacturing Graduate Jobs.

You could find yourself involved with:

  • Identifying and eliminating waste & any non-value added activity in the factory and throughout the supply chain
  • Increasing reliability & efficiency of production line performance
  • Applying proven problem solving techniques (DMAIC) to eliminate major production issues
  • Increasing production flexibility by reducing line changeover times
  • Helping factories understand and deliver new initiatives, engaging the workforce towards common goals
  • Implementing innovative new programmes across the country.

As part of our team, you'll focus all your energies on improving the production processes and solving issues that are having a major impact on production. It's a role that's perfectly suited to someone who enjoys a challenge and seeks to add value every day, ensuring Nestlé continues to run a world-class manufacturing operation. A passion for problem solving is therefore essential. You'll need the ability to build multi-functional project teams that can take complex business problems, then work together to find root causes, before implementing sustainable solutions. The DMAIC (or Six Sigma) problem solving methodology is used at Nestlé, providing a powerful tool to unleash business potential and eliminate waste or non-value added activities from our processes.

We are therefore looking for graduates with a logical, analytical mind, a passion for working in teams and the personal drive & curiosity to challenge the norm using a continuous improvement mindset. Project management skills are also crucial. Previous experience in working with and applying the DMAIC problem solving methodology would be an advantage, but not essential as we will provide the required training as part of your development plan. Although you don't need to have an engineering background for this programme, you will need to be interested in how things work (machinery, processes etc) and work closely with our engineers to build up a strong engineering understanding.

You'll work with people at all levels of the company – from the Senior Leadership Team and factory management, to the operators that run the production lines and our technical staff. We'll expect you to have the credibility and gravitas to influence, inspire and engage. You need to be able to build a rapport quickly with people at all levels and be able to adjust your communication style to find the best ways to engage them and develop their understanding of what LEAN means and the role they can play in this.

We'll give you all the support and guidance you need. In return, you'll need confidence in yourself and the courage to see your actions through to completion.

To help give you the best platform to develop a successful career with us, our graduate programme involves you typically undertaking four different placements, which could be located in any of our UK factories or offices. It's therefore essential that you're flexible as our factories stretch from Scotland to the South. We will provide financial support as you change location.

We will consider applicants with any degree discipline although an Engineering, Manufacturing or problem-solving degree discipline is preferable. We’re particularly interested in hearing from anyone with knowledge of LEAN, DMAIC or Six Sigma but don’t worry if you don’t have this; if you enjoy solving problems and eliminating waste, please apply.
