SHE (Safety, Health & Environment)
The aim of our SHE Graduate Programme is to train talented individuals for future senior roles in Safety and Environment in our confectionery, food and beverage sectors. We will provide an environment that enables graduates to develop and grow into professional SHE personnel. Our SHE programme gives you the chance to build a career right at the heart of our business, providing advice and solutions that add value for both our internal and external stakeholders, building on the value of "no harm to people and the environment."
You will be based at one of our Nestlé factories throughout the two-and-a-half year programme. We will provide challenging work that develops your skills, knowledge and experience as a SHE professional.
We are looking for proactive and enthusiastic individuals to train and work as part of a busy team across the diverse SHE department. You'll learn on-the-job, developing the following SHE competencies:
- Auditing
- Incident Investigation
- SHE communication
- Employee Engagement Programmes
- Nestlé Continuous Excellence (our journey towards a LEAN Enterprise)
- ISO Management Systems
- Legal Compliance
- SHE Culture Programme Instigation
- Internal and External Reporting
- SHE Systems and Processes
- SHE Advisory Role
This will be achieved through playing an active role in the implementation, monitoring and continually improving SHE activities at your location:
- Driving SHE performance and improvement
- Providing a SHE advisory service
- Assisting in the implementation of the SHE culture. Implementing SHE employee engagement programmes
- Representing the Site to the relevant authorities
- Collating of data across for monthly SHE reports
- SHE Audits on site
- Implementing initiatives to reduce safety and environment incidents
- Carrying out research as required into new environmental technologies and provide inputs for environmental opportunities. Assisting on sustainability as required
You'll also be supported in working towards membership of the Safety and Environment Institute. The role may involve a period of work abroad but this will very much depend on your progress and development and is not guaranteed for all (or even any) of our graduate trainees.
Ideally we are looking for individuals with a Degree in Environment Studies, Engineering, Health and Safety related degree although we will consider applications from other disciplines. It is essential that you have:
- Interest in Safety and Environment issues.
- Understanding of ISO Management systems.
- Excellent self motivation and self discipline.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- The ability to co-ordinate a number of tasks simultaneously.
- The ability to establish and maintain good working relationships.
- Full clean driving license and willingness to travel and relocate.
- Flexibility; the ability to adapt and cope with the unexpected.
Please note that, although you will likely be based in one factory throughout the programme, allocation will be based on your experiences and fit with that factory rather than on personal preference. You must therefore have the flexibility to be based at any of our UK sites during and beyond the programme.
